With Nebulis Entity released I’ve been getting feedback from various players, and one of the bigger issues I’ve noticed is that although I (obviously) understand my game and the gameplay flow well, it can be hard for players with 0 context to figure out what to do.

Now my game intentionally doesn’t hold the players hands too much as I find that to be annoying, but they do have to go out of their way to find information such as inside of information tablets, or by reading emails on the computer.

To assist new players a little more, I’ve added a new ‘pre-warp checklist’ whenever you start a new run. This is 100% optional and can be ignored, but for new players it at least gives you a little sense of direction on how the gameplay loop is done. It is displayed on the left side of the screen and vanishes if you have ‘tutorials’ off in the in game settings or if you just warp away and ignore its steps.

Here’s a small clip of it, but essentially it guides a player through setting the ship up for their run by getting them to use the computer, scan down a signal, load energy into their weapon bays, repair a couple machines, then warp off to a sector they choose. I think it will be a great addition especially if you have 0 idea what you are doing when you enter a run for the first time.

Until next time,
